Diocesan Clergy Conference

The Diocesan Clergy Conference was held at Dhayan Ashram Retreat House, Kolkata from Tuesday, 20 to Thursday, 22 January 2015. Rt. Rev .Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos presided over the meetings and Sr. Mary Prema, Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity inaugurated the conference.
The theme of the conference was “Redemption of Life and Renewal of Worshiping Community”. Rev. Abraham Scaria. P led two main talks and the Bible Studies were conducted by Rev. Dr. V.T Vinaya Raj and Rev. John Wilson. Rev. Dr. P. G. George led a devotional talk. There was a discussion and evaluation on the subject “Life and Challenges of Mar Thoma Clergy and Ministry Today”. Rev. John G. Mathews and Rev. Jacob K. Samuel were led this session. Rev. Johnson M. John and Rev. Jijo Varghese were led the singing sessions. Clergies from Calcutta, Bhopal, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh centers of the Diocese gave leadership for the worships. Rev. Y. Biju and Rev. Rency Thomas were served as Chaplains. Very. Rev. C. A. Varughese celebrated the Holy Qurbana and Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos delivered the concluding message.
The conference had fruitful discussions on the needs of our Diocese. The main thrust of the conference was regarding the concerns of the parishes and also how to extend relevant ministry for the revitalization of our church and families. A mission statement was formulated on the same subject and Rev. Sajeev Thomas presented it in the conference. Rev Sajesh Mathew was appointed as the Co-convener for conducting the programmes on the theme “Redeeming Life , Renewal of families”.
58 achens of the diocese attended this conference. Rev. Thomas Koshy Panachamoottil served as the Convener and Rev. Philip Phililp as the Logistics Coordinator. The diocese extends sincere thanks to Kolkata Mar Thoma Church, Kuwait St Thomas Mar Thoma Church, ISPCK Delhi, Mr. P. T. Mathai, Mr. Sunny Jacob Bhopal, Mr. Viju Thomas and Mr. Philipose Oommen for supporting the conference.
