The school is managed by The Northern India Zonal Assembly of the Mar Thoma Church, Delhi Diocese in collaboration with SECL (South Eastern Coalfields Limited). Affiliation with the Board since: 2008 Extension of affiliation upto: Secondary level up to 2016, Senior Secondary level up to 2014. The Mar Thoma Syrian Church is always in favour of education and thus the emergence of schools and colleges even at the remote villages all over India. The Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church being an Eastern Reformed Church, with Indian Spirtuality, has been running many institutions including schools in various place of our Country like Ranchi, Indore, Satna, Delhi and almost all states in India. The effort at St. Thomas is to equip a child with personal skills, intellectually competent, morally sound, respectful of the environment and always receptive to the challenges of the continual growth for the betterment of the society.
St. Thomas Public school is only one school brought laurels in both secondary and higher secondary result 2016 in Korba. Our student participated in different Inter school sport competition. One of the class XII student Mousmi Biswas won Bronze Medal (Thai Boxing) in 62th National School games Competition 2016-17 in which held Pune Maharastra. Students participated in various competitive Exams. Nevin Alexendar Ani of class V secured 2nd prize in English Olympiad (National level) conducted by Eduheal Foundation in Mumbai. The school has a wide range of clubs and co-scholastic activities that promote learning by combining recreational and educational factors.
As always this year was filled with lot of celebrations which included. Independence Day, Teacher’s day, Children’s day, Gandhi Jayanti & National unity day, Annual day and Republic day & Sports day. All these events are celebrated with customary zeal & enthusiasm. Our school is secured first position for cultural programme & march-fast, conducted by SECL Dipka Area on 26th January 2017.
The school’s academic year was made memorable by the visit of many eminent dignitaries from time to time. We express our sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Rt. Rev. Dr. Gregorios Mar Stephanos Episcopa, Rev. M. P. Solomon, (Diocesan Secretary), Shri P. T. Mathai, (Diocesan Tresurer), Shri Jai Govind Singh (General Manager), SECL-Dipka Area, Shri Ghanshyam Singh General Manager (Mining), SECL – Dipka Area, District Collector, D.E.O, Union Leaders, JCC Members, PTA Executives members, Assembly members and LAC members for their valuable support and guidance towards the school, which reached the present condition and they have helped us in smooth working of the school.
